MATCHA GARDENS

Matcha Gardens was an illustration depicting a character looking out onto all the work to be done on the tea fields. In this painting I utilized the laso tool and textured brush to create a painterly style that still had a graphic pop, emphasizing the soft painterly brush against the hard edges created by the laso. The composition is positioned at a tilt to help create movement throughout the piece. This piece focused on using bold shape language to help create an eye-catching scene.
This illustration was created in Clip Studio Paint. I began this illustration by roughly laying out major shapes using the laso tool and building up texture using various brushes. I used the bright shapes of the clouds to help break up the highly saturated colors of the ground and sky.
