Hades is a roguelike action role-playing game featuring a wide variety of characters based on Greek Gods. In this piece, I took Hade’s interpretation of the goddesses Nyx and Persephone and created duo illustrations for mock collector cards. Taking inspiration from the Art Nouveau movement, these illustrations combined the classic style with modern game characters. Using a symmetrical composition and formal posing of the figures, this piece aimed to showcase the divinity of each goddess and capture the opposing moods through the warm color palette of Persephone against the cool-toned palette of Nyx. This piece was the recipient of the Peter Berry Award in the Bill L. Parks Gallery Illustration Exhibition.
